Sakhi N: The Music Journey from Matsulu to Fame

Born on February 2nd, 1998, Sakhile Nkosi, popularly known as Sakhi N, is a rising star in the South African music industry. Hailing from Matsulu township in Mpumalanga Province, Sakhi N grew up in a family of four siblings, three boys, and one girl, with him being the youngest. He attended Benjamin Primary School and Tikhontele Secondary School, where he completed his higher education in 2019.

Sakhi N’s passion for music began at a young age when he used to listen to his grandfather playing the guitar. His grandfather’s talent left a lasting impression on him, sparking a flame that would later inspire him to pursue a career in music. He was particularly impressed with the way his grandfather played and sang his songs, and this ignited a love for music within him.

In 2009, Sakhi N came across Stone Krecka’s music and was immediately impressed with his Swati rapping skills. He reached out to Stone Krecka and played him some of his beats, which the latter found impressive but advised him to fix a few things to meet industry standards. This was the beginning of Sakhi N’s journey into the music industry.

Sakhi N started his little home studio and recorded his rap group named Mvenda Crew, which became popular among the people in his neighborhood, gaining a lot of fans with their songs. He landed his first big break when he got a show at ka Nyamazane stadium, hosted by Ligwalagwala FM, where he shared the stage with great artists like Johnny Clegg and Mandoza. This performance led to his first interview with a community radio station called BCR, and he was later signed by a record label called Ghetto Hustler. He went on to join another record label called Fantasy Music, where he recorded a song called Waba yekelelani with another musician named Passion Master, which was produced by a producer named Jay Spitter.

Sakhi N’s big break came when he got an interview on Ligwalagwala FM, where the late Sifiso Kingdom (RIP) played his song for the first time on the radio. He was then offered a show to perform with Big Zulu and Focalist in Durban, where he recorded a song titled Kokoko and a video was made. In Kwa Zulu Natal, Sakhi N made connections with influential people in the music industry and also performed on stage with artists such as Afrotainment, Zakwe, and Duncan.

Unfortunately, the Covid 19 pandemic forced him to go back home to Mpumalanga, where he got interviews with Nkomazi FM, BCR FM, and Ligwalagwala FM. During one of these interviews, Sakhi N revealed his wish to work on an EP with Mpumalanga’s first Swati rapper, Stone Krecka. After the interview, he met with Stone Krecka to plan the way forward, and they hooked up at Fantasy Music to record their three singles for their EP titled Mshana na Malume in December 2021, with plans to release their single in early 2022.

Sakhi N is a talented rapper with a unique sound that is winning him fans all over South Africa. He is a true inspiration to aspiring musicians, showing that with hard work and dedication, one can make it in the music industry. With his EP set to be released in 2022, Sakhi N is definitely a star to watch out for in the South African music scene.
