From Hobby to Business: The Journey of Stembiso Matsebula

In 2008, Stembiso Matsebula started exploring his love for music as a hobby. He quickly gained a following and support from his trainer and the community, which encouraged him to further develop his passion. With determination and hard work, he was able to convert his hobby into a successful career as a DJ and sound engineer. Matsebula’s journey began with participating in various programs that offered formal basic training, which gave him the confidence to compete in the FAMFEST MPUMALANGA COMPETITION organized by the RASHIEN LEGAYS FOUNDATION in 2018. He was crowned the best DJ and obtained first position, which proved to him that he had found his calling. In 2019, he participated in the DJ ZOE MUSIC CREATIVE WORKSHOP and was once again crowned the best DJ.

The recognition Matsebula received through these competitions motivated him to take his career to the next level. He decided to transform his career into a business and in 2020, he formed CEDRO DE ENTERTAINMENT PTY LTD. The company is 100% South African owned and managed, and based in Mpumalanga, City of Mbombela at Matsulu B. CEDRO DE ENTERTAINMENT is aimed at developing promising DJs within Matsebula’s community and province. The company’s management has eight years of experience in the industry and has shared the stage with national artists such as Trademark, Calme, and DJ Zinhle.

At 30 years old, Matsebula’s passion for music and his investment of time and experience have led him to take his career to the next level. While he acknowledges that not having proper resources is a weakness, his strength lies in his ability to work under pressure and do overtime. Matsebula’s journey from hobby to business is an inspiring example of how determination, hard work, and a love for what you do can lead to success. It shows that with the right attitude and support, anyone can turn their passion into a thriving business.
