Abednico Mabaso, a young man from South Africa, has been crowned Mister Tourism World South Africa 2022 and Mister Tourism World Popularity 2022, marking a huge accomplishment in his pageantry career. Abednico’s journey began in 2017 when he fell in love with pageantry and decided to learn more about the industry. In 2019, he entered the Mr. Bushbuckridge pageant and made history by becoming the first Mr. Bushbuckridge 2019/2020. Abednico took a gap year from pageants in 2021 but returned in 2022 with a bang. He participated in the Mr. Mpumalanga pageant and not only won the title of Mr. Mpumalanga 2022 but also Mister Tourism World South Africa 2022 on the same day.
Abednico’s pageant journey has taught him valuable lessons about confidence, humbleness, creativity, and perseverance. He believes that we all face challenges in life, and for him, the biggest challenge was getting sponsors to invest in some of his projects. However, he conquered them by using his networking skills and staying positive. One of the most important things Abednico has learned is to never doubt himself. He believes that everyone has something unique to offer, and it’s important to embrace one’s strengths and talents. He also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy mindset and staying fit to be at the top of one’s game.
For Abednico, pageantry is not just a competition; it’s a way of life. He lives and breathes pageantry, and it has become a part of his identity. He has grown as a person and gained valuable experience and skills that will serve him well in his future endeavors. One of Abednico’s future goals is to have his own media production company and teach modeling and acting to boys in disadvantaged areas. He hopes to use his platform as Mister Tourism World South Africa to be the voice of the voiceless and challenge municipalities to do more for their communities.
Abednico’s advice to aspiring pageant contestants is to never share their dreams with the wrong crowd because they may discourage them. He also emphasizes the importance of doing research and being an innovative thinker. Abednico’s pageant journey is far from over. He plans to continue with his “step up for a boy child” projects and make a difference in the lives of those around him. His passion, dedication, and perseverance have made him a role model for many South Africans, proving that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.
