TV/Film Acting and TV Presenting Training Open Day at The Untouchables
On May 13th, 2023, The Untouchables Artist Hub hosted its inaugural TV/Film Acting and TV Presenting training in Mpumalanga at Tweefontein. The event saw the participation of eight eager trainees who registered for this exclusive course. Adding to the excitement, several stakeholders who play significant roles in the development of the arts were present, including Thandeka M, an established visual artist and transformational speaker; Speelman Mathibela, founder member of the renowned youth development organization Vivace Youth Centre; and Comfort Zisongo, Secretary of CCIFSA Thembisile Hani Local Municipality. Their presence brought immense delight to the trainees.

The primary objective of this training program is to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to seize opportunities in TV and film production, not just in Mpumalanga but also in other locations. The Untouchables will go a step further by providing apprenticeships to the trainees, offering them valuable industry experience and facilitating their entry into the job market. This will involve collaborative efforts with well-established casting agencies and production companies. Precious Ndlovu, a seasoned and highly experienced TV personality and member of The Untouchables’ executive team, will also contribute by providing online special lectures and guidance to the participants. Mr. Lee, the driving force behind The Untouchables, is committed to delivering high-quality training that will make the trainees competent in their chosen fields. The age range of the trainees spans from 12 to 35 years. The course is expected to conclude by the end of June 2023, followed by an apprenticeship program that will run for the remainder of the year.

During the formal Opening Session of the training, several notable comments were shared:
Thandeka M expressed her belief in empowering individuals and instilling hope in their abilities. As an arts instructor, she not only imparts artistic skills but also motivates her students, highlighting the myriad talents they possess. Thandeka believes that the gifts these young people possess will propel them to great heights, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in the face of discouragement. She urges artists to love and believe in their work, emphasizing the uniqueness and potential embedded within their artistic visions.
The Untouchables: Nurturing Talented Young Performers in Etwatwa East
Comfort Zisongo, who works with various organizations including Funda Nathi, Black Man, and VAMA, emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy between artists, the government, and other stakeholders. As the Secretary of CCIFSA and responsible for the Audiovisual Sector, Comfort aims to provide trainees like those present at the course with access to the industry. By fostering connections and partnerships, CCIFSA endeavors to facilitate the growth and success of aspiring artists.

Speelman Mathibela, representing Vivace Youth Centre, highlighted their commitment to arts and culture. Despite the challenges posed by limited infrastructure, Vivace designs programs such as exhibitions and theater shows to promote artistic expression. Speelman shared his personal journey, starting with performing arts at Mukombe and subsequently expanding into music production. He expressed gratitude for individuals like Mr. Lee, who are dedicated to sharing their skills and advancing the arts.
Ntombifuthi Bhuda, one of the trainees, expressed her excitement about the rare opportunity she has been granted. Although she has no prior experience in any art form, Ntombifuthi’s interest in TV Presenting prompted her to enroll in the course. She acknowledged the incredible talent showcased by the performers present that day and felt comforted by the safe and accessible environment The Untouchables provided for learning and personal growth.
